Mimi says Good Bye...It's time for Retirement

On Friday August 27, 2010 Mimi H was honored for her years in the Laboratory.

 Mimi is all smiles as she wears her most festive uniform for her final day at work.

Education Committee Sponsors Lunch and Learn

Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT) was the first Lunch and Learn conducted by the newly formed Education Committee.  Nick Zaksek Pharm D from Excela Health WH presented an overview of HIT.  The event was well attended and everyone of course enjoyed the light lunch.

BacT ALERT now at Latrobe Lab

The BacT ALERT 3D is now at Latrobe Lab.  The  replacement for theold Bactec is here and training is underway.  New screens and new blood culture bottles will soon be second nature.  OK...maybe by next year.

Lab has role in new Return to Work Policy

Tonja, Gloria and Maggie handle paper work which is part of the new Return to Work Policy implemented this August.  Employees retuning to work after short term disability longer than 30 days now must pass a urine drug test and blood alcohol before returning to work.

Speed Break

It's time for the new daily routine, morning break isn't what it use to be. With the new "limited, timed break"...aka---SPEED BREAK the LAH cafeteria looks like a ghost town.


It' your turn for heart burn as you take your break with your "timer" and co-worker too. The times they are a changin'.

New Location for the Safety Information Board

With the lab renovations the Safety Information Board was relocated across the hall form Histology. Sandy M has a new location to keep us up to date on everything you need to know or ever wanted to know on Lab Safety. Sandy says,"Make sure you stop by and check it out."
